Meeting with the Inland Revenue Department

Representatives from the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) engaged in an interactive discussion with the membership of EASL to discuss the SVAT repeal process and refund scheme which is of notable concern to all exporters.

The Tax steering committee of The Ceylon Chamber for Commerce was also invited to participate and the mechanisms of the processes set to take places were discussed. EASL and the Tax steering committee requested the IRD that a comprehensive trial run for the refund process be carried out and approved by the export community before the abolishment of SVAT takes place.
